About the Founders

Darrin and Annie Yoder are the team behind Chico Pickle & Pong, a place they created to bring more recreation and connection to the Chico community. After discovering how quickly pickleball was growing — and how limited indoor options were in the area — they saw an opportunity to build something that would welcome players of all ages and skill levels.

They wanted to design a space that felt active, friendly, and fun, whether someone was playing their first game or joining a competitive league. That vision grew into what the facility is today: an indoor hub with pickleball courts, ping-pong tables, volleyball courts, cornhole lanes, and room for camps, clinics, tournaments, and group events.

A Shared Vision for Community

For Darrin and Annie, Chico Pickle & Pong isn’t just a sports center. It’s a place where people can meet new friends, spend time with family, learn a new skill, or simply play for the joy of it. Their goal is to make movement accessible year-round and to offer a space that feels welcoming the moment you walk in.

They’re passionate about keeping the atmosphere relaxed, upbeat, and open to everyone — from casual drop-in players to those who love structured leagues and organized tournaments.

Why They Built It

Like many people who fall in love with pickleball, Darrin and Annie appreciated how easy it was to learn, how social the sport could be, and how much energy it brought to every match. That excitement led them to imagine a place where all those elements could thrive indoors, rain or shine.
